Esthetics in Implant Therapy

Surgical and Restorative Integration

Presented by Dr Ueli Grunder, DDS

Sunday, March 2, 2008
Quintessence Publishing Office
Hanover Park, Illinois

Achieving an optimal esthetic result in implant therapy is a challenging and highly involved undertaking. One of the most important aspects is the predictability of our final results. The different disciplines of dentistry involved (ie, oral surgery, periosurgery, prosthodontics) should not be discussed separately. The only way to obtain a satisfactory result is to take into consideration every possible aspect during each step of the treatment, including treatment planning, surgery, and prosthodontics. Different treatment modalities and the following aspects for single-tooth replacement as well as partially edentulous and totally edentulous situations will be discussed.

COURSE OUTLINE

•Indications: Choosing the optimal treatment strategy
• Extraction and provisional design to preserve papillae
• Influence of the position and direction of the implant on the final result
• Implant surgery: Simple, advanced, and complex situations
• Immediate implants and provisionalization in single-tooth replacement
• Guided bone regeneration technique in combination with implant placement
• Soft tissue management: Subepithelial connective tissue graft, inlay graft, roll flap
technique, and tunnel technique
• Stage-two surgery: Creating papillae with pressure
• Combining a stage-two surgery with a connective tissue graft
• Creating papillae between implants
• Soft tissue management in the prosthetic phase
• Long-term stability of the soft tissue
• Materials used in implant prosthodontics
