Aim: To describe a new type of anterior repositioning splint, which can be used for anterior repositioning of the mandible in cases with temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Subject and Method: A female patient, 42 years of age, with acute dislocation of the condylar disc without reduction, secondary to parafunctional activity, underwent splint therapy with the Jasper jumper anterior repositioning splint following recapture of the disc with a functional manuever. Pre- and posttreatment magnetic resonance imaging of the temporomandibular joint validated the therapeutic changes. Results: The Jasper jumper anterior repositioning splint prevented the disc from unintentional dislocation, which is possible with wide mouthopening. The disc was held and retained in this musculoskeletally stable position at the 6- month follow-up visit. Conclusion: This new appliance can serve as a comfortable alternative to conventional anterior repositioning splints. World J Orthod 2003;4:67–71.
