Aim: To highlight the use of nonsurgical rapid palatal expansion on nongrowing patients, and to attempt to answer the question of whether or not the palatal suture can be separated on patients of any age. Methods: The treatment records of a 27-year-old female patient are examined and discussed. Conclusion: The outcome appears to be extremely stable at 9 years posttreatment. However, it should not be assumed that this technique would work on all patients. World J Orthod 2000;1:157-163.
