About the Editor

Barry J. Sessle, BDS, MDS, BSc, PhD, FRSC, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Orofacial Pain, is Professor and Canada Research Chair and past Dean at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a member of the Canadian Academy of Science, and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and he has been president of the International Association for Dental Research and the International Association for the Study of Pain. He obtained his dental training from the University of Sydney and his PhD in neurophysiology from the University of New South Wales. After completing postdoctoral research at the US National Institute of Dental Research, he joined the University of Toronto in 1971. Dr Sessle has coauthored or edited nine books, published more than 280 journal papers and book chapters, and delivered more than 300 invited lectures in numerous countries. His research into orofacial pain and neuromuscular function and dysfunction is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the US National Institutes of Health.
