Enucleation of Oral Hemangioma Using the Nd:YAG Laser: Case Report

Maurizio Ripari/Umberto Romeo/Arrigo Perondi/Andrea Cicconetti/Francesca Ripari

The treatment of oral hemangiomas requires particular attention to the possible complications that can result. The aim of these case reports is to underline the unquestioned advantages that the use of Nd:YAG laser can provide in the treatment of this particular kind of benign tumor compared to standard techniques: hemostatic effect, elimination of scar formation and accelerated healing process, sterilization effect, superior target access via flexible optical fibers, reduced need for anesthesia, reduction of postoperative pain (no or slight soreness in the treated zone for about 24 h). With certain limitations, this laser currently represents the first choice in hemangioma surgery.
