The purpose of this report is to demonstrate how the CO2 laser improves a well-established operative method in cleft surgery. The healing process and the reduction or avoidance of scars after laser surgery is presented in the case of a nine-year-old boy with a congenital unilateral cleft lip and palate, who, after several operations, still possessed a remaining median hard palate defect.
