Today, there is no doubt that lasers are very efficient instruments for dental treatment. Different types of lasers exist, and the one applied depends on the indication. There are different wavelengths (Diode 810 nm or 980 nm, Nd:YAG 1074 nm, Er,Cr:YSSG 2780 nm, and Er:YAG 2940 nm, CO2 10,600 nm) and different modes of irradiation (continuous, pulse, superpulse). Many studies have demonstrated that the Er:YAG laser in hard dental tissue applications (ablation) and the CO2 laser in soft oral tissue treatment (attendant procedures) yield excellent and safe results in caries therapy.
