The development of flexible optical fibers for the most important dental lasers (diode, Nd:YAG, Er:YAG) now makes it possible to perform more efficient and prognostically more favorable treatment of the infected endodontium than has previously been possible with conventional root-canal treatment using bactericidal rinses and calcium hydroxide compounds.
