Objective: To report our experience of embolization for arteriorvenous malformation (AVM) of jaws by direct puncture in conjunction with endovascular treatment. Materials and Methods: The study group comprised 5 patients with AVM of the mandible and 2 with AVM of the maxilla. The patients were embolized using coils with wool strands and PVA. The coils were placed directly into the centre of the intraosseous lesion. The procedure was performed using a DSA machine (Philips V3000). Results: The acute arterial bleeding was controllable in 4 patients. The chronic bleeding in the other 3 cases disappeared in 3-24 months follow-up and new bone formation was found in the follow-up radiography. Conclusion: The embolization of the AVM of jaws by direct puncture in conjunction with endovascular therapy is effective and safe. However, longer follow-up is required.
