Before the founding of the People’s Republic of China, there was little oral medicine research (Disease of the Oral Mucosa) using modern medical approaches. The development of such study in China has not been smooth. However, with time and the advancement of society, oral medicine in China has become an independent specialized field, which is full of vitality and possesses features unique to China. Some of the research projects are quite advanced.
