The purpose of this report is to illustrate how a combinatio of fixed and removable orthodontic appliances can be utilized in the treatment of adult patients with mutilated and potentially periodontally involved dentitions. Emphasis is placed on case selection and recognition and diagnosis of periodontal susceptibility before and during orthodontic treatment. Several case reports are presented.
