Absolute adjustable control and fixation of the proximal segment in mandibular sagittal split osteotomies

Szilagyi/Creed/Nathan

This paper describes a technique for rigid but adjustable passive fixation of the proximal and distal segments following mandibular sagittal split osteotomies. The technique addresses the problems of counterclockwise rotation of the proximal segment and the subsequent skeletal relapse it produces. Also discussed are cases in which this fixation technique has been employed.
