Hospital charges for orthognathic surgery procedures were analyzed by category to allow surgeons and orthodontists to explore modifying practice patterns to minimize charges while maintaining quality. Charges incurred in the operating room and the recovery room represent half of the total charges. The impact of interventions to reduce charges can be measured against these baseline data.
