The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of root coverage on esthetics and periodontal parameters in patients with Miller Class I gingival recessions. Twenty-five gingival recessions in maxillary canines and premolars were treated with a coronally advanced flap and connective tissue graft. Gingival recession, keratinized gingiva, clinical attachment level, and Gingival Index were evaluated at baseline and 3 months after treatment. The esthetics were assessed by the patients following surgery. Quality of life was evaluated using the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14). All patients scored the esthetic result as satisfactory or better. The mean root coverage was 67.90%. Full root coverage was achieved in 11 cases. Statistically significant differences were observed before and after treatment for the periodontal parameters. There was a significant correlation between the OHIP-14 scores and esthetics. Within the limitations of this study, it can be concluded that root coverage improves esthetics and clinical periodontal parameters.
