Ray C. Williams, DDS, received his DMD from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and his certificate in periodontology and oral medicine from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He is a professor of periodontology and dean of the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in Stony Brook, New York. He is a member of the board of directors of the International Academy of Periodontology. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Periodontology, the Compendium of Continuing Dental Education, the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, the Chinese Journal of Dental Research, and the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. Dr Williams has authored 140 papers and co-edited a textbook entitled Periodontal Disease and Overall Health: A Clinician’s Guide (Professional Audience Communications, 2010). In 2008, he received the American Academy of Periodontology’s Gold Medal Award.
