Author(s)/Editor(s): Jimenez-Lopez, Vicente

Price: $ 198.00

The relatively new treatment modality that allows some patients to achieve oral rehabilitation with implants in a single day requires careful attention to all aspects of care. This book presents basic concepts about immediate implant loading and describes the surgical, prosthodontic, and laboratory techniques available. It highlights the “hows,” “whos,” and “whens” of immediate implant loading and offers a wide variety of solutions for each situation, allowing the reader to select the one most suited for a given case. Various case types, including single-tooth, partial bridge, and complete maxillary and mandibular restorations, are followed from preoperative evaluation to surgical procedure to postoperative care and accompanied by numerous clinical photographs. The last chapter of the book discusses the occlusal-related problems commonly associated with implants and how to address them. Because immediate implant loading requires the cooperation of many different practitioners, this book also emphasizes the critical importance of working as a team to reach a result that is satisfactory for everyone involved, including the patient.

Preface
Immediate loading or function in implant dentistry is a fairly new technique that allows certain types of patients to have their teeth removed and implants placed, along with the prosthesis or prostheses, in the same day. Providing immediate implant loading requires a great deal of previous experience, as well as advanced knowledge of implant dentistry and significant surgical and prosthodontic skills. The object of this book is to present the basic ideas about immediate implant loading and update the surgical, prosthodontic, and laboratory techniques available. It highlights the “hows,” “whos,” and “whens” of immediate implant loading and offers a wide variety of solutions for each situation, allowing the reader to select the one most suited for a given case.

At the present time, immediate implant loading is preferred for fixed mandibular partial prostheses, mandibular overdentures, single tooth replacement in anterior areas, and both maxillary and mandibular fixed partial dentures in anterior areas. This book follows each of these situations from preoperative evaluation to surgical procedure to postoperative care, emphasizing the difficulties that may be encountered and their possible solutions. Each chapter is illustrated with numerous clinical photographs of a variety of case types and supported by the latest research. A chapter on laboratory considerations addresses factors that negatively influence the construction of a prosthesis and provides a variety of solutions for the reader to choose from. The book concludes with a discussion of the nature of occlusal problems and the various situations that can pose a challenge to immediate implant function and how to address them.

Because immediate implant loading requires the cooperation of many different practitioners, this book also stresses the importance of teamwork in the achievement of satisfactory results in success rates, function, and esthetics, all of which are required for success in any treatment employing implants.
