Title: The Brånemark Novum Protocol for Same-Day Teeth: A Global Perspective
This book introduces Brånemark Novum, an essentially new concept in the treatment of edentulousness. Novum represents a refinement and simplification of the Brånemark Classic protocol in that all surgical and prosthetic procedures can be completed in just 6 to 8 hours, thus giving patients a third dentition in less than 1 day. Moreover, this significantly reduced treatment time makes the procedure affordable for more of the patients who can benefit from it. The clinical cases presented in this book illustrate that the identical prefabricated implant components, templates, and frameworks of the Novum system have been used around the world in the successful treatment of patients of different ages and bone anatomies.

Preface
Patients who are edentulous in the mandible frequently suffer from functional and psychological problems that tend to increase as the jaw bone continues to resorb. These problems may also affect the patient socially and may increase with age due to denture instability caused by reduced neuromuscular control.
Over the years, many attempts have been made to anchor a third dentition to the mandible. This book describes Brånemark Novum, as essentially new treatment modality that is based on 35 years of clinical experience with the Brånemark Classic osseointegration procedure, a two-step surgical approach with varying time intervals between the steps. The distinctive feature of Novum is that it requires only 6 to 8 hours for the entire reconstruction and thus gives the patient a third dentition in just 1 day.
This change of paradigm is based on successive variations of the Brånemark Classic procedure, which collectively have suggested the possibility of reducing the amount of time between fixture placement and prosthesis connection. Yet this procedure still relies on conventional prosthetic principles, as for example in registration of the topography of the anchoring elements through traditional impression procedures or three-dimensional scanning methods.
