Soft Tissue and Pink Esthetics in Implant Dentistry
Why is soft tissue the key point when dealing with esthetics in implant dentistry? What is its biologic role? The concept of soft tissue integration is the new challenge in implant dentistry. Current research on the dynamics of healing in postextraction sites recommends avoiding a staged approach with spontaneous healing after tooth extraction. To achieve optimal results, clinicians should consider preserving the anatomy of the ridge and the soft tissue contour. During this 2-day workshop, different surgical and prosthetic approaches will be discussed for single- and multiple-tooth rehabilitations, from immediate implant placement to ridge preservation and horizontal and vertical bone regeneration to soft tissue augmentation. There are different sites and different protocols but only one goal: predictability.
■ Understand the importance of a proper soft tissue integration to maintain long-term health and esthetics.
■ Define a clinical decisional tree for the management of the extraction site: when immediate implant placement, when ridge preservation, when ridge augmentation, and when delayed implant placement with guided bone regeneration.
■ Learn the surgical techniques to preserve the original soft tissue contour or to augment the lost peri-implant tissues.
